2-imidazolidone is mainly used as crosslinking agent in anti-wrinkle finishing agent and dealdehyde agent for fabrics, rubber, resin, PA6, etc. Polyeva, all kinds of water-based coatings, adhesives, pigments, paints and other formaldehyde removal agent; Separately added into the coating to make the coating with absorption and decomposition of formaldehyde function; Ink-jet printing ink plays the role of wetting, blocking and dispersion; Chelating agents and formaldehyde absorbers in photosensitive materials; In paper industry as a treatment agent to remove formaldehyde. It is also the main component of all kinds of air freshener, aldehyde removal agent, and an important intermediate of synthetic penicillin.

1. Textile Industry

Cotton products are made of long chains of cellulose, in which a large number of hydroxyl groups form spatial hydrogen bonds. These hydrogen bonds will be destroyed by heat or external forces and recombined randomly, which forms fabric folds. When the fabric is treated with ethylene urea and formaldehyde, it can react with the exposed hydroxyl group to form a stable structure and play the role of anti-wrinkle. This method can control the pungent odor caused by the single formaldehyde wrinkle treatment, and effectively inhibit the release of formaldehyde.

 

In addition, urea-formaldehyde resin is a commonly used finishing agent for fabrics. The urea formaldehyde resin remaining on fabrics will slowly release formaldehyde, which can be effectively inhibited by ethylene urea treatment. Studies have shown that flax, silk and rayon with ethylene urea wrinkle treatment also get good results.

2. Inkjet printing ink

Vinylidene urea is an important additive in inkjet printing ink, which has many functions. It includes dispersing pigment, lubricating pipeline, preventing inkjet head from drying in the air, preventing nozzle blocking, improving ink storage stability, etc. Also can improve the color contrast, get high quality print effect.

3. Adhesive

All kinds of wood-based boards, such as plywood, particleboard, fiberboard and composite wood-based board, generally use urea formaldehyde resin, phenolic resin or melamine resin as adhesive, China alone annual output of 80 million cubic meters. These adhesives are urea, phenol and melamine, which are condensed with formaldehyde, and all have the problem of slowly releasing gaseous formaldehyde into the environment. Vinylidene urea can be added to these adhesives to effectively reduce formaldehyde release without affecting the bonding effect.
